Tatty Teddies that is also known as Me to You Bears is a trademark of the teddy bear collection created
by Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd. They are often found in Clinton Cards. They
were first created in 1987 and appeared in their current form in 1995. A range

History of
Tatty Teddy
Me to You began in 1987 when Steven Haynes, chairman and
founder of Carte Blanche Greetings, asked Mike Payne to create a group of
“cute” characters to appear on a series of greeting cards. This led to the creation
of various cartoon toys named by the Miranda gang, including the spotted brown
bear.
Deciding it was time for an update, in 1995 Carte Blanche
gave the bear a new look. Drawn in charcoal, turning the bear from brown to
gray, with the addition of a bright blue nose, a few more spots were born and
the story of his own "Tetty Teddy" and "Me for you". Me to You is now a global brand and
Tatty Teddy is now appearing on a wide range of personalised Me to You products
including greeting cards, plush, clothing, gifts, figurines, personalized
merchandise, and pastries. More than 75 million Me to You teddy bears have been
sold since 2000.
Look and
Appearance
The first generation of Tatty Teddy stuffed toys, released in 2000, was based on the
original 1995 greeting card design, consisting of a teddy bear with short gray
fur, small black eyes, an off-white muzzle, and a blue nose with white
reflective light. spot on the right side. They also have patches of light gray
that appear to have been sewn onto them, as well as repair work on the arms and
head, hence the name “tatty”. The words “Me to You” are embroidered on the
right hind leg. The very first Tiny Tatty Teddy was handcrafted by

Bears come in a wide variety of sizes, from 5cm to over
80cm, and often come with accessories such as hearts, roses, T-shirts, woolen
hats, and scarves. Some have personalized messages ranging from simple “I love
you” to longer messages related to seasons and events. Customers can even
personalize their bears. Bears are especially popular with women in the 10 to 30
age group, although they are also created as a romantic gift for people of all
ages as they can be considered “cute”. This makes them collectibles like Steiff
and Beanie Baby toys. Indeed, there are even annual national collectors' Tatty
Teddy events.
Several special and limited editions of bears were also
released, strengthening the collectible nature of the toys, which wear the bear
in different costumes, including different animals and four seasons (summer,
winter, etc.). Many limited and special edition releases are designed to be in
time for events such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Christmas. The
number of these limited edition bears is usually 9000, however it can range
from 1500 to over 10000.
